Abstract
Plant-parasitic nematodes are one of the major biotic stresses for agricultural and horticultural crops in India. Changing climate and adoption of protected and water saving agricultural technologies have resulted in emergence of newer plant-nematode problems. Nematodes are vicious and difficult pathogens to manage. The chemical options to manage nematodes are limited as at present only two nematicides are available for use on limited number of crops in India. It is expected that with the increased use of omics technologies for identification of drug targets, smarter methods would emerge for nematode management. However, integrated management along with use of plant resistance remains the most preferred method for the management of plant parasitic nematodes.
