Abstract

Pusa mini electric agri prime mover was developed to enhance the efficiency and productivity of farm worker/ operator in lighter farm operations. Multi-location trial of the prime mover with its attachments resulted the feedback on controller at heavy load. Load was again assessed to see the drawl of current. Another feedback was observed related to heating of motor during stationary operation. To protect the controller and motor, an overload protection alarm was developed to provide alert and safety of the Pusa mini electric agri prime mover during mobile and stationary agricultural operations. The developed protection alarm for current has a hall sensor module with a facility adjustable over the current indicator as LED glow. While RTD sensor was used in overload protection alarm for sensing temperature. The RTD sensor is mounted on body casing of motor at set temperature of 60oC. The module converted to sound alert by providing the buzzer. The trend of current drawl and voltage drop suggest for maximum loading of Pusa mini electric agri prime mover up to 490N at 9A. Thus, alarm was set at 12A. A beep comes to alarm the operator over 12A drawl current to reduce the load/throttle by decreasing the operational depth. Study also provided a calibration curve that can be used to assess the load during operation at known drawl current. The graph between load and current suggests having an agricultural battery that has linear characteristics of drawl of current. The use of an overload protection device for drawl of over current and sense of overheating temperature of the motor makes the Pusa Mini Electric Agri Prime Mover a smart machine.
