Abstract
Mango flowering and fruiting is seasonal and due to prevalence of seasonality, there is frequently an excess during the peak season, which fetches low prices of produce, distress sell and postharvest losses to the growers and traders as well. It has been experienced that during on years, there will be a bumper harvest of mangoes leading to glut, arise low price and profit to growers. To reduce aforesaid problems there is need of Sadabhar fruiting (2-3 time in a year) in mango. Several strategies namely, canopy management through training and pruning, smudging, PGR (Paclobutrazol and ethephon treatments), Potassium nitrate and use of off-season fruiting varieties needs to be adopted. Further, research may be focused to identify region and varieties suitable for off-season bearing and climate resilient techniques for off-season flowering fruiting.
